Heat speeds flea development and busy summer walks add exposure to ticks. Keep prevention steady, protect paws and skin, and store products safely out of the heat. Reviewed with input from our lead vet and founder, Dr. Feargus McConnell, BVSc.
Walk early or late and rest at midday. Offer shade and fresh water. Rinse salt, sand and dust after outings and towel dry to the skin. Air travel mats and beds in the shade so they do not stay musty.
Storage safety
Do not leave products in gloveboxes or on sunny sills
Keep packs in a cool, dry cupboard
Take only what you need on trips and bring unused packs back inside
Run hands along the coat for black grit at the tail base and neck. Add a tick check after bush or coastal tracks: ear edges, under the collar, armpits, groin, between toes, tail base.
